A battle against the clock to complete a two week art piece in just four hours will be airing on TV on Tuesday featuring a Devizes artist.

David Alderslade, 37, Lydeway, is going to be appearing on people’s TV screens on Tuesday October 20, competing against other artists to see who is going to walk away as the landscape artist of the year.

Mr Alderslade said: “It was quite an experience, I met a few interesting people while filming the show. It was timed and I was under pressure, and the cameras were all pointing at you. We were given four hours to create a landscape painting when usually it could take me up to two weeks to finish one.

“I was part of the Portrait Artist of the Year competition last year and I painted John Humphries, presenter of Mastermind. I am not a portrait artist but I managed to get to the final three in my heat, so this year I decided to enter the Landscape Artist of the Year.

“Kate Bryan, one of the judges, decided to buy one of my paintings. She is the director of Art 15, the London Global Art Fair.

Mr Alderslade already has paintings on display at Pewsey Gallery, 16 High Street and Glastonbury Gallery in Somerset.

Landscape Artist of the Year will be airing at 8pm on Tuesday October 20 on Sky Arts, Sky channel 121.
