A YOUNG tenor who grew up in Bradford on Avon is performing alongside a choir for their annual Remembrance Sunday concert on November 8 at the Wiltshire Music Centre.

Peter Kirk, studied opera at the Royal Academy of Music in London, will join forces with the Cantamus Chamber choir to sing song collections by composers Robert Schumann, Edward Elgar and Percy Grainger.

Mr Kirk will sing Schumann’s song-cycle, A Poet’s Love, and Cantamus will accompany him for Grainger’s setting of Brigg Fair in the first half.

The second half will include a set of six choral songs from Elgar’s scenes from the Bavarian Highlands and Cantamus will perform Schumann’s, Gypsy Life and Elgar’s, They are at rest to complete the remembrance programme.

Mr Kirk will make his Royal Opera House debut for the 2015/16 season as Chulak in the Firework-Makers Daughter.

This two part concert also involves melodies and poems and the choir, conducted by Mike Daniels, will be accompanied with Steven Hollas on the piano.
