POLICE are reminding people to beware of rogue traders trying to sell goods on their doorstep.

The warning follows an incident in Penhill on Monday, November 16, when a man called at a woman's house saying he was from a company called Shopper Check.

He said he would give her vouchers in return for her bank details.

When the woman refused he became upset and walked off.

A police spokesman said: "Remember if you suspect a rogue trader at your door, do not open it and call 999."

Police are appealing for witnesses after Toothill Community Centre was broken into at around 1.30am on Wednesday, November 18.

A thief, or thieves, forced their way in and stole bottles of spirits.

A number of garages in the Walcot area have been broken into. Police took a call at 10.25am yesterday from a member of the public who's garage had been broken into. It's not clear if anything was taken, however she also reported four to five other garages in the area had been broken into.

Police investigations are continuing.

Witnesses are sought after children were seen throwing stones at windows of a house in Staverton Way, Penhill at 6pm yesterday.

If anyone saw anything suspicious in this area at this time, they are asked to call police on 101.

A 20-year-old Swindon man has been arrested and charged after the front window of a shop in Fleet Street was smashed yesterday at around 11.45pm.

Tee-Jay O'Hanlon was arrested at the scene and subsequently charged with causing criminal damage. He has been released on unconditional bail.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a large dumper truck was stolen between 5pm on Monday, November 16, and 8am on Tuesday, November 17, from Lambourn Business park in Hungerford but may have driven through Marlborough. It is red and blue in colour.
