A MUM of four is now the proud owner of a souper new set of wheels after winning a nationwide competition.

Hannah Hurley was given the keys to her brand new Mini cabriolet at the weekend in Kings Lynn after it was announced that she was the winner of the ‘Win a Mini’ competition by New Covent Garden Soup Company.

Hannah’s winning pack was a Maris Piper Potato and Leek she had picked up from her local Sainsbury’s in Stratton.

Along with husband Adam, and children Will, 12, Josie, 10, Rufus, 8 and Albert, 6 they made the journey east to collect their prize, where they said they were treated like royalty.

Hannah picked up the carton of soup from the supermarket in September and entered the code on top of the carton to the New Covent Garden Soup Company’s website, then thought nothing more about it.

“You had to hold on to the empty carton, which thankfully I did,” said Hannah. “I had seen it sitting on the shelf and thought ‘I should probably throw that away’.”

But Hannah almost missed out on collecting her winning prize after missing the company’s calls to notify her of the win. She said: “They had been trying to contact me for two weeks, but I didn’t see they had left me a voicemail. I eventually listened to it and thought, why would they be trying to contact me? Then I accidentally deleted it trying to relisten to it. I did manage to retrieve it, as I was rummaging in the recycling trying to find the carton.”

The company paid for Hannah, her husband and her four children to journey up to the Mini dealership to collect the metallic silver cabriolet.

“It was absolutely great,” said Hannah. I got to swoosh the cover off the top of the car in a ‘ta-dah’ way. The children were very excited by the fact there was a soft toy in the back seat too, and were very impressed that there is just a button to make the roof go back.

“I have to say, it is one of my favourite cars and something I have always looked at and thought I would like.”

But with four children, the Mini does offer a small practical problem, in that it only has three passenger seats. “Trying to pick the children up from school with their violins was never going to work,” laughed Hannah.

But for now she is quite happy enjoying her new wheels. She said: “The whole thing has been really exciting, and they have taken great care of us – I have never won anything in my life before!”

Jeremy Hudson, chief executive officer of Hain Daniels Group – the parent company of New Covent Garden Soup Company said: “Our Win a Mini competition proved to be immensely popular amongst soup lovers nationwide and by the end of the three month competition, we had received over 25,000 entries.

“All of us at New Covent Garden Soup Company extend our congratulations to Hannah on being drawn as the winner, we hope she enjoys her ‘souper' new Mini.”
