AN 11-YEAR-OLD boy was pushed into a puddle and his Manchester United coat stolen.

Now police are appealing for witnesses to the incident an underpass on Dorcan Way at 3pm on Thursday, November 5.

The boy was walking home from school when he stopped to put on his raincoat.

As he did so a man pushed the boy into a puddle, snatched the coat and ran off, away from nearby Morrisons.

The male is described as white, slim, 5ft 11 inches tall, wearing a plain, black, hooded top, white jeans and black laced shoes. He possibly has a tattoo on his left hand.

The coat is a Manchester United red and black waterproof jacket. It has the club shield on the breast.

PC Paul Best said: "We would like to speak to anyone who may have seen this incident or anything suspicious in the area at this time.

"It was daylight so someone may have spotted a male running, perhaps carrying this coat.

"The jacket itself is quite distinctive as it was bought abroad and it's believed not to be available in this country.

"If you can help or see this jacket lying on the side of a footpath or road (we believe it would be too small to fit the suspect) please contact me on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
