A CAR has flipped on its roof near Rockley after it is thought to have skidded on black ice.

Luckily, the driver of the silver Honda Civic has only suffered minor injuries following the crash at 8.13am this morning near Hackpen Hill.

However, an ambulance crew, police and a fire crew from Marlborough are at the scene.

Police officers have also contacted the council to send a gritter and the car is blocking the carriageway, so motorists are being warned of delays until the car is recovered.

A fire crew from Swindon was also sent as a precaution but was turned away as fortunately the driver was not trapped.

A driver of a Ford Focus also skidded on black ice and collided with a tree in Clyffe Pypard, Royal Wootton Bassett this morning just before 8am. The driver was not injured.

Royal Wootton Bassett & Cricklade Police posted on their Facebook: “Minor RTC's again on the rural roads, there were no injuries and the driver is arranging recovery.

“There is also one slightly off patch at Hackpen Hill and breakdowns at Castle Eaton.

“Please take care on the roads.”
