Pub calls in ghosthunters

PARANORMAL experts have been called to a pub in Warminster after weeks of unexplained phenomena have left its new management terrified.

Jackie Mansell, 45, is seeking professional advice after weeks of mysterious incidents, including being grabbed while in the shower, since she took over tenancy of the Masons Arms in East Street, in March.

Other bizarre occurrences include a series of slashes down a newly refurbished wall, music coming from no apparent source, cold patches, curious smells, and doors unlocking on their own.

Warminster's own supernatural investigators, UK5 Paranormal will be holding a séance at the pub in July to determine any supernatural causes.

Miss Mansell, whose 16-year-old daughter, Kirsty, also lives with her in the pub, said: "The worst thing that happened was when I felt as though I had been grabbed on the back on the neck while in the shower. That freaked me right out. I jumped out of the shower covered in bubbles and ran up the stairs. I'd had a horrible feeling that someone had been watching me before it happened.

"Also, one night, at about 1am, I heard a tambourine playing, but I couldn't find out where it was coming from. I was with an old friend in the bar and it just wouldn't stop. My friend went home petrified."

Other peculiar events include crisp boxes flying off the shelves, orbs of light seen around the bar and doors found unlocked and lights on after they had been switched off and locked before the family had gone to bed.

Miss Mansell said: "We had the bathroom wall plastered and left it to dry overnight a while ago. When we went back the next morning it was like there was three thin blade marks like someone had dragged a Stanley knife down the wall. It is quite high up and no one had been in that room. I can't explain it.

"I am very sceptical about things like this but it really has frightened the life out of me. I didn't believe in all of this stuff before I came to the pub but now I just don't know what to think."

The executive founder of UK5, Ray Jorden, of Ferris Mead, Warminster, said: "When a place gets redone or renovated you will find that it can disturb the natural flow and fabric of the building and this can at times cause any kind of phenomena to make itself aware to others who live in the building.

"There are many areas of this location that we feel excited about investigating and will be setting up many experiments such as a triggerometery, motion sensors, live web-cams, locked off cameras in active rooms, temperature sensors and much more."

All that would frighten me as well and I know the Reverend Melvin Banks in Chippenham (Monks Way) goes and exorcises places. At least its not happening to someone living on their own.

Under new ownership - this article may drum up some business for the place! It's probably the ghost who is now sneaking a wheel clamp on cars and ripping the owners off of large amounts of money ! They need the extra business of inquisitive people reading this article to replace the ones who are not going back after being clamped !!!!

Jan, re comments about clamping - as far as I'm aware, the signs in the Mason's car park have been up for several landlords to stop people using the car park to pop into the takeaways, or other shops at that end of town. I know previous publicans used to challenge people if they saw them in the act of getting in/out of their cars, it's nothing new, and to say so isn't fair on the new managers.
Tracey? I'm glad you got that off your chest - LOL!

I walk through te Maon's carpark several ties a day to get to my house and when ever i pass the mason's is always busy so the landlady wouldn't need to invent a story for people to come to the pub.
if you use the pub you can park if you don't then you can't
Debbie and pete and Dannie did the same.
Its a private carpark to which the ladyland pays council tax The signs are clear for all to see
i just walked through there and a car has been clamped dispite being right neat the sign warning what would happen
so if you get clamped don't moan

Some really interesting comments about the Pub and what has been occuring there.

Having lived in Warminster most of my life there have been certain events in local pubs that I have personally been a party too and it wasn't because of the drink as I dont drink and couldnt be explained.

I will be keen to read more and to find out what the UK5 Paranormal team find when they visit in july.

I really do not think that just because the landlady has called in a paranormal team it is for self gain and publicity, it must be very frightening to experince these things, so why not call in a team who can help and get to the bottom of this, it is like if you have a leak call a plumber.

I agree whith Mercia,

Why invent a story for an already established Pub in the town ??

I have to say that I feel that a paranormal team getting called in to hekp a situation is not a bad thing by far, infact it can help the situation in many ways and help the location owners.

I am a member of a paranormal team in Wiltshire but wish to stay annoymous as I feel my comments could lead myself being asked to leave the present team I am in.

I am also a member of Weird Wiltshire forum and it seem that this story is already a topic of conversation.

I would just like to say that , there are quite a few teams who have appeared in the press and in local papers that no one makes a single comment, it is very unfair for this team to come up with such comments and I think it is very unfair by those who post.

Vinewood,

Your comments are clearly those of a person who feels they have to calle people names in order to make themselves look good with their comments.

Infact your comments are stupid, rude, and non exsistant to be frank. Anyone who knows and has worked with UK5 team or called them in as I did will know they are the nicest bunch of people , down to earth and grounded with a way of making you feel calm and warm, they are not fake and if you had any knowledge of UK5 you would know how they work, how they research is real and only report real truths... so in reality you comment about them being fake is laughable as the only fake we can all see is the one who writes under the name of vinewood and it seems maybe from anpther paranormal team !!!

Think on Wiltshire there are people out there who like to make other people look bad in anyway they can , but only from hiding behind their keyboards.

Good Luck UK5

I would like you to know that I am not in anyway part of any paranormal team, also how on earth can I be a fake! I am posting my opinions and they are true not fraudulent.
I shall also be frank that my comments do exist as they are still on this website!

So its ok for you to stand up and say when someone says to you, that you are not a fake or opinions are fraudulent but you seem to think its ok to say that about the UK5 team, who I imagin you have no personal knowledge of what so ever ????

I doubt you have no basis for calling these people fakes when you dont even know them

Sadly you will always get one who feel that can say comments that are pretty much based on the fact that they do not even have any knowledge on the paranormal

What do you base your obviously expert and informed opinion on? Is it your extensive research into the paranormal concluding that it does not exist? Do you know the UK5 bunch and have heard them talking over a pint at lunch time saying how they are going to rip off another unsuspecting customer? Or is it that you are just so narrow minded you cant see or percieve anything outside you own little tunnel? Oh and anyhthing that happens outside your own little tunnel obviously cannot exist. If you took the blinkers off you might see something different for a change and perhaps wouldn't have to resort to calling people names just because they don't fit into your little world .
UK5 you guys go I cant wait to findout what happens in July

Thankyou to all the kind comments and thankyou to all the negative ones too, the team has read these with much interest.

Sadly there are many people who feel that people like us are fake and what we do is rubbish.

I would like to address this by saying that everything that UK5 do is self funded, non profit and we have never charged to go or charged to be booked for an investigation. All the reporting we post on the website is real, as it happenedeven if nothing occured that night we believe it is still important to report this.

We are bound to come across views and opinions by various people who resort to bad mouthing in a public forum wishing to tarnish a reputation built up by a lot of hard work by all of the team.

It is not the aim of UK5 to change the opinion of others, however if those opinions change by the work and reports we publish then those opinions have only been changed by those people themselves..

We welcome at times numbers permitting guests on location with us wheather you are a believer or not, so you can see what we do, be a part of what we do and see for yourselfs that what we do is Reporting real locations and Real situations.

Thankyou to Higbury for your comment.

If anyone wishes to discuss this matter further with me in any way then please go to the UK5 website and email me personally.

Your comment is disgusting and one that is based on a lie and is very bitter and would like to know in plain terms, WHAT RESTRAINING ORDER ???? THERE HAS NEVER BEEN ONE which makes you comment itself worthless.

Monkey you know as well as I do that this is a sad way to try and tarnish a reputation with your evil nasty writing.

Its also funny how you have got your facts so very wrong...there is no sole founder of UK5, each of the five are the founders....

Your comment has been reported by me a friend of the team as its clear who is behind these comments, it isnt really hard to work out....

Well it seems there is a bad un-spiritual bitter bad mouthing here under the name of Monkey.

Sadly UK5 you are bound to get these people who lie in order to make themselves look better but infact they are making ones self look like crap.. there are many people out there that want to see others fail... but this in the world of spirit will work against them...

Spirits know this is a lie and so does the person behind it.

Dont worry UK5 we know the truth and so does horrid person behind this.

As a member of the UK5 Paranormal Team I feel quite saddened that some people feel the need to write garbage and try to slander another person's name with nothing to back up their statement.

I usually stay out of these discussions as everyone is entitled to their own view about the paranormal, but when the whole team is dragged into a defamation of character discussion, I feel I have the need to post.

As I work in an environment where associating with frauds and charlatans would reflect badly on myself and my career, I make sure that I try and socialise with people who are on the right side of the law, no member of our team has had any restraining order against them. I would like monkey to step out from behind their computer screen and make themselves known and their allegations proved (People who hide behind alias' usually have something to hide themselves!) There are people and teams out there who seem to feel the need to bad mouth and slander other teams, we are not one of them, we're here to report the paranormal and if nothing happens, then we don't feel the need to fabricate the truth, how can that be a fraud or a charlatan?

I shall draw to a close for now.

Regards
Samantha

As a reader of Wiltshire Times, it is always great to read stories about local people and situations, I always read with much interest each week.

Its a sorry state when I read via the website, negative comments that can only have been born out of hate for UK5.

Everyone has the right to be in the news helping someone who is having a hard time at her pub and had the gumption to call in a local team who deals within this circle.

It seems there is more to life and the other side of life that we dont know and it is people like UK5 that are helping us learn and understand about this subject.

Hope all the negative comments stop, posivity is the way forward for us all

Sue
