YOUNGSTERS at The Croft Primary School have been learning about maths with a twist for charity.
Inbetween normal lessons reading Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and doing spelling quizzes, they joined in with the nationwide NSPCC Number Day today.
This meant pupils could come to school dressed in number related clothing and try their hand at tricky calculations and maths challenges.
Thousands of teachers and students have been taking part in the event to inspire motivation to enjoy maths, and raise money at the same time.
“We always have fun at Croft Primary School and the whole school have been joining with what we are doing to support the NSPCC," said Candida Hutchinson, headteacher of the school in Marlborough Lane.
“We have been taking part in many activities, anything from a board game, a counting game building towers as well as activities on the NSPCC website. The children think it is great.
“We are also doing Who Wants to be a Mathionnaire? Which is a spin on Who Wants to be a Millionaire.”
Pupils who dressed up were also invited to donate money to the NSPCC, the children's charity fighting to end child abuse in the UK.
Candida added: “As a school one of our values is unity so we are doing this together and another is respect and hope and we pleased to be supporting the charity.”
