YOUNGSTERS who play for a village football team are in no danger of getting cold during their warm-up routines.

For the Devizes branch of Morrisons has donated fleeces for the whole U7 team to wear over the top of their soccer football kit.

The donation to buy the smart black sweatshirts was organised by Morrisons community champion Stacey Stonham. She said: “We always try and do our bit to help organisations supporting young people and for charity events.

“If people want to contact me to ask for support they can ring the main switchboard and even if I am not here I will always get back to them. Since taking up this position last year I have been doing a lot with schools.

“We supported the football team after they did a bag pack in the store.”

Bishops Cannings Youth Football Club was set up in 2006 to enable children of all abilities to enjoy playing football. It is a growing and successful club with around 90 boys and girls aged from four to 15.

Winter training is at Devizes Leisure Centre and summer training is at Green Lane. Matches take place at Green Lane.

The club is affiliated to Wiltshire County Football Association and is a member of Mid Wilts Youth and Minor Football League.
