A FAMILY doctor from Devizes has been arrested by Wiltshire Police on suspicion of sexual assault.
Dr Amit Dwivedi, who works at Freshbrook Surgery, Swindon, has been released on bail for the alleged incident while officers conduct further investigations.
The doctor lives in Devizes with his wife.
A spokesman for the force said: “Wiltshire Police are investigating an incident where a 46-year-old man from Devizes has been arrested
on suspicion of sexual assault after he visited the Swindon home of a woman.
“He has been released on conditional bail while we carry out further enquiries.”
It is understood Dwivedi was arrested last Wednesday after the police were spotted at his surgery.
A patient, who did not want to be named, said there were a number of officers at Freshbrook
Surgery and the Ridge Green Medical Centre which it operates in partnership.
The witness said that a car he believed belonged to Dwivedi had not been moved for several days.
