JAKE the Juggler, of Performers Without Boarders, will soon be back from Swindon’s twin town Ocotal in Nicaragua, with a new mission: To raise funds for a youth circus group in Ocotal.

Jake, who lives at Lower Shaw Farm, was so impressed with the group during his recent visit he said that he wanted to do all he could to help them as they had little in the way of good equipment.

Bruce Clarke, the chairman of Swindon Ocotal Link said: “This is really excellent news.

“It’s what twinning is all about: Making direct links between like-minded people in both towns.”

He said was delighted to add Jake to the line-up at Swindon Festival Of Literature’s Spanish Evening which he said will present dancers and poets from Nicaragua, musicians from Spain and now Jake, fresh from his adventures in Central America.

The event takes place on Monday, May 9 from 6.30pm until 7.30pm at the Arts Centre, in Old Town.

To book a ticket call 01793 524481.

The Spanish Evening is part of Swindon’s celebration of 25 years of the twinning agreement between the two towns.

Festival-goers can also find out more about SOL and be entertained by Jake at the festival’s SOL Celebration Day at Lower Shaw Farm, which takes place on Saturday, May 7 between 10.30am and 2.30pm.

Tickets are available from the Central Library.
