THE Flying Scotsman steaming into Salisbury and an undisturbed carpet of bluebells are among the latest entries to the VisitWiltshire photograph competition.

Throughout the summer VisitWiltshire is welcoming submissions from photographers of the finest scenes the county has to offer.

Della Cook, from Trowbridge, is among the latest photographers to share some of her picturesque scenes of Wiltshire.

She said: “I have always enjoyed arts and crafts and within the last four years got into photography. I joined Trowbridge Camera Club to meet like-minded people and just to learn more about it.

“I enjoy getting out and about looking for the unusual to capture, my main passion is wildlife and macro photography with the odd steam train thrown in as well.”

Her first submission shows the historic moment the restored Flying Scotsman pulled into Salisbury railway station.

“A bit of history coming to Wiltshire and almost passing my front door, I had to capture it,” she said.

“I knew it was stopping at Salisbury station and just had to get the shot and I think I did.”

She has also been out and about with her camera capturing a village community working together to raise funds in the form of the Scarecrow Trail in Urchfont on a lovely sunny day.

Her third picture sees her remain close by. She said: “Right time, right place for bluebells in Urchfont Woods, it was just a carpet of blue completely undisturbed and very picturesque.

“I love wildlife photography and the challenges that come with it,” she said, explaining her methods behind her fourth picture of a Skipper butterfly at the Westbury White Horse.

“I used a macro lens for this close up ensuring I get the detail hidden within the subject. Westbury White Horse is very local to me and has a wealth of wildlife just waiting to have its picture taken.

“I do love wildlife – I was just taking a stroll around Langford Lakes and the young swan appeared for my fifth picture. I just had to capture the moment with the sunlight highlighting the feathers on the wing.”

The competition will run right through the summer until September 30, and each photographer can submit up to five photographs each month.

To be in with a chance of winning, the photos should capture the essence of life in Wiltshire, its people and landscape.

There will be one first prize of a £300 voucher for the best photograph overall, plus two runners up prizes of a £50 voucher each.
