THE RED carpet was rolled out for the Year 11 pupils of Pewsey Vale School for their end of year prom with crowds cheering the well-dressed crowd.

As well as turning up in a traditional tractor, the pupils arrived in an imaginative array of different ways, varying from people arriving on horseback and even being pushed in a balloon-clad wheelbarrow.

Kirsty Protheroe, deputy head teacher of Pewsey Vale, said: “Our beautifully clad students joined us on the red carpet for a wonderful evening of dancing and selfies, set amongst twinkling trees and green ambient lighting. The red carpet arrival is a local event and the crowds did not disappoint this year with their support and awe of the arrivals. Most notably were Matty Venman riding a horse and The Boys plus Amy Bishop arriving in a stretched Hummer.”

Mrs Protheroe has praised the organisation from the Year 11 committee who set up and arranged the majority of the event.

“The committee, headed by the Year 11 prefects, organised most of the event and were in the school setting up with staff before they whizzed off to appointments to get ready. During the evening there were votes for the best dressed, best arrival and of course prom king and queen. Best dressed went to Alison Scott and Jed Battern and best arrival went to the prom king and queen Haydn Spicer and Amy Bishop,” she added.

“Haydn was so sure that he wouldn’t win that he was sending a text message during the announcement. It was a wonderful evening to be part of and we are proud of the students’ conduct, attitude and collaborative spirit in this event.”
