A MAN facing four charges of theft can expect a police escort to court after he failed to attend on Monday.

Nathan Hagen, 21, currently of no fixed abode, was due before magistrates sitting in Swindon. He faces a charge of theft of alcohol valued at £76 from Morrisons on February 5 and another charge of theft of alcohol from Asda in West Swindon on March 4 valued at £60.

He is also charged with stealing food and drink valued at £53.53 from McColls in Victoria Road on June 5 and DVDs from WH Smith in Regent Street valued at £45 on June 11.

He is further charged with failing to attend court on June 8 to answer the earlier charges.

When magistrates heard he had failed to attend on Monday morning they issued a warrant for his arrest without bail.

A teenager accused of five sexual offences will stand trial in the youth court to face the charges a district judge has ruled.

The 17-year-old, who cannot be identified due to a court order, came before District Judge Simon Cooper sitting at Swindon Magistrates' Court on Wednesday where he pleaded guilty to inciting a teenage girl to send him explicit images of herself between October 8, 2011, and July 31, 2014.

He denies four other sexual offence charges against teenage girls.

He will stand trial at North West Wiltshire Magistrates' Court on September 13 and 14. A case management hearing will be held on August 5, which he is not required to attend, to ensure the trial is ready to take place.

In the meantime he was released on unconditional bail.

A man accused of three indecent assaults against a teenage girl will appear in the crown court next month.

The charges against 45-year-old Stephen Dent relate to accusations made by a woman that allegedly occurred when she was 14 - almost 20 years ago.

Appearing at Swindon Magistrates' Court on Wednesday morning Dent entered no plea to the three charges of indecent assault against the same girl between July 30,1996 and July 29, 1997.

The magistrates released the Waverley Road resident on unconditional bail until his appearance at Swindon Crown Court on July 29.

Accused of three counts of assaulting a woman and criminal damage, a man has pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.

Daniel Tomkins, 30, of Brentfore Street, entered not guilty pleas to the charges of assaulting the woman on April 25 and on two further occasions between March 1 and March 31 of this year when he came before magistrates sitting in Swindon on Wednesday.

He also denied a further charge of damaging the woman's Samsung mobile phone valued at £150.

The magistrates adjourned the matter for Tomkins to stand trial at North West Wiltshire Magistrates' Court on September 27.

In the meantime he was released on conditional bail not to contact the alleged victim directly or indirectly or go to her home address of place of work.

A 17-year-old has had five charges against him dropped including for failing to stop after a car crash.

The teenager, who cannot be named because of his age, appeared before magistrates sitting in the youth court in Swindon yesterday and during the brief hearing was told no further action will be taken.

He had been accused of driving a Volkswagen Golf in December without a licence and insurance, without due care and attention, and for failing to stop after a road accident and for not reporting that accident.

Nick Barr, prosecuting on behalf of the Crown Prosecution Service, did not give any reasons on why the charges had been dropped.

A teenager will appear in court today for sentencing after pleading guilty to a string of offences, including assault and possession of a knife in a public place.

Yesterday Danni Hill, 18, of Mellow Ground, pleaded guilty to breaching her bail conditions on Monday by staying the night with her friends and not her home address as stipulated by the bail conditions.

She was released back on conditional bail to be sentenced for the other four offences.
