AFTER complaints about overgrown grass at Melksham cemetery the town council is liaising with Wiltshire Council to assure the situation never arises again.
Both councils currently cut the grass once a month but they are hoping to synchronise schedules so that the grass is cut bi-monthly. At a town council meeting on Monday (June 27) Cllr John Hubbard said the state of the cemetery was embarrassing.
He said: “It is shocking when we have something that is so special and in such a state.
“It sticks in my throat that it is somewhere like the cemetery as it is such an emotive place for people.”
Town Clerk, Steve Gray, said: “The council has asked me to explore the possibility of synchronising our grass cutting and we have contacted Wiltshire Council.”
