THE Proms season is approaching in Devizes and will start with a children's event on September 4 hosted by Devizes Band in Hillworth park.
Devizes Town Council direct services manager Sarah Williams said: "Last year was the first time the band performed wholly for children and their Children’s Proms in the Park was a tremendous success.
"Band members will again dress up to entertain the children and will be performing tunes from TV and films to appeal to children of all ages and their parents. "The band will be joined by members of the Devizes Musical Theatre Footlights Group who will be performing songs from musicals, including High School Musical, which is their next production."
The children's prom will run from 2pm to 4pm and is free.
A week later on September 11 it will be Proms In The Park from 3pm to 6pm.
Mrs Williams said: "Proms in the Park is a hugely popular event and a firm favourite in the Devizes social calendar. The band will be performing popular classic pieces. Flags, whistles and horns expected.
