WITH just a few of days until the Pewsey Music Festival fills Coopers Field, the organiser is promising to deliver what could be the best year yet.

Liz Boden, organiser of the festival, has been working hard to ensure that everything is in place for the festival, which opens its gates on Saturday (August 6) at midday.

Mrs Boden said: “It is looking to be the biggest one we have done, I know I usually say that, but we have sold a lot of tickets and the line-up is fantastic. We have John Otway who is going to be great, he is a bit older now but he still has a wonderful energy to his performances. Our headliner, Tankus and The Henge, are very full on and full of energy. They have pasted their style from a lot of influences but it works really well, their sound is very unique.”

The layout for this year’s festival has been slightly changed, now boasting a big top tent which can take up to 660 people.

“We have planned it so when the bands are changing over on the main stage, which should take about half an hour, that people can watch other performers on the other stage when they are waiting. It should be seamless but we shall wait and see,” added Mrs Boden.

As well as the normal slotted performers, a number of tribute acts will be taking place over the course of the day.

“We have a man on stilts dressed up as Lemmy and we have a band who will be performing a range of songs to commemorate all of the musicians we have lost this year. We usually like to keep it original but we felt like it was a nice idea,” Mrs Boden said.

Tickets for the festival are still on sale from Sound Knowledge in Hughenden Yard, Marlborough, Devizes Books in Sidmouth Street and The Coopers Arms in Ball Road, Pewsey, for £10 each. Anyone who wishes to pay for the tickets on the day will be charged £15 on the gate.
