REVELLERS flooded the sun soaked Coopers Field in Pewsey over the weekend for the annual Pewsey Music Festival.

Gates to the festival opened at midday on Saturday (August 6), with 600 people turning up to spend the next 12 hours enjoying the wide variety of music and entertainment the festival had to offer.

“There was a great crowd and the atmosphere was electric,” said the festival organiser Liz Boden.

“From a gentle start, the music and mood gradually escalated with some swinging numbers from K V Brass, including a jazzy Light My Fire pre-echoing the fabulously authentic Doors of Perception, who played in the evening.”

Now in its ninth year, the festival doesn’t seem to be slowing down, welcoming acts like the Sonic Meds, Blurred Vision, the well-known John Otway and London gypsy-jazz performers Tankus the Henge.

“It really was a great day, with fantastically talented artists and a truly appreciative audience. We’re really grateful to our staunch group of volunteers who do the heavy lifting and shifting, and the trimmings and tweaking, as well as our admissions team. It couldn’t have happened without them,” added Mrs Boden.

As well as the main acts, the Magic Roundabout tent also offered up a different sort of entertainment to those waiting for the next band to appear.

“The Magic Roundabout tent – adorned with characters from that programme– featured Liam Merrigan, Simon Hall, John E Wright, Ayesha Tizzard, Plummie & Widzy, and the ever-popular Mark Nelson Trio from Surrey. Mad Pete wowed kids with his magic show and Steve Wrong rounded off The Magic Roundabout Stage action with a DJ set,” said Mrs Boden.

Next year will mark the tenth anniversary of the local festival, with Mrs Boden saying that it will be an event to remember.

“Make sure you stick 5th August 2017 in your diary; it being the 10th anniversary we have some very special plans up our sleeves,” she said.
