FUNDRAISERS at Prospect Hospice recently to welcomed supporter Arlene Lewis and her family who kindly donated a cheque for £1,268 raised through the third annual Mick Lewis Memorial Darts Tournament in June.

The event, in memory of Arlene’s late husband, who was a keen darts player, has raised £3,000 over the last three years. “He would have been very proud of us all,” said Arlene.

“We are so impressed with how well this year has done that we have already started organising next year’s event.”

Competitors bought along their families to enjoy a barbecue and lots of fun activities, which included guessing the name of the teddy, guessing how many dart flights were in the jar, as well as a raffle and the auction of a dartboard signed by darts professionals Van Gerwen and James Wade.

The Lewis family said they were very happy to have been able to give back to the hospice for the care that Michael received.

“Everybody at the hospice treated us like family,” said Arlene.

“They all do such a brilliant job.”

Amy Francombem, community fundraiser at Prospect Hospice, said: “We are very grateful to Arlene and her family for the years of support they have given us, and so pleased that they have chosen to continue the annual event in 2017.

“We would like to say a big thank you to the Lewis family and to the 32 players and their families that went along on the day.”
