A SWINDON car fan celebrated today as he scooped the top prize in the Route 66 competition.

Lucky winner Lee Baldry, from Stratton, was presented with £500 worth of Love2Shop vouchers after he entered a draw at the motor show, which was organised by the Advertiser and inSwindon.

The 43-year-old production supervisor, who accepted the prize with sons Zach, 12 and Liam, eight said he was delighted.

“It was a very pleasant surprise,” said Lee

“You don’t think you’re ever going to win something like this it’s absolutely brilliant.

“The kids have already spent the money on a new Xbox, and I think the wife wants a new ironing board. I might get something too if I’m lucky.”

Lee and wife Wendy also plan to take their extended family out for a meal.

The two-day motor show saw models from Minis to SUVs dotted around the town centre in prime spots to attract the attention of shoppers and mark the arrival of the new 66 registration plate.

A dozen local dealers took part, including Dick Lovett, TH White and Johnsons, Fish Brothers Renault

Visitors also enjoyed sneak previews of the latest ranges and prospective buyers will got the chance chance to book test drives and take the newest models for a spin.

Lee said his family had enjoyed the show, held on August 13 and 14.

“Me and the boys were out in town when we saw a few amazing cars. We particularly liked the Alfa Romeo so we got a photo with that. I never dreamed I would win though,” he said.
