A MAN is to stand trial on charges of stealing almost £150,000 from a management company .

Andrew Basson, 64, of Mardale Close, Nine Elms, is charged with stealing £109,237.39 from Deaves Court Management between April 20, 2011 and June 1, 2011. He is further charged with stealing £40,000 from the same company on April 2, 2014.

Magistrates sitting in Swindon ordered that the matter be sent for trial at Swindon Crown Court.

He will appear there on September 2. He was released on unconditional bail.

Refusing to provide police with a specimen of breath a man has found himself banned from the roads for almost two years.

Michael Long, 56, of Station Road, Chiseldon, pleaded guilty to failing to provide a specimen of breath to officers at Gablecross Police Station on July 11.

Magistrates sitting in Swindon banned him from driving for 20 months and fined him £120 for the offence.

He must also pay a £30 victim surcharge and £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service for the cost of bringing the matter to court.

Denying that he had driven a car while three times over the drink drive limit a man will now stand trial.

Pavel Wasowicz, 31, of Birdcombe Road, Westlea denies the allegations dating from July 23.

He is accused of driving a silver VW Golf on Mustang Way after drinking so much alcohol that he had 112mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35mg.

He is further charged with driving without insurance. He also denies this charge.

The magistrates adjourned matters to be heard at North West Wiltshire Magistrates' Court in Chippenham on October 12 for the trial. He was released on unconditional bail.

A man will stand trial at Swindon Crown Court next month facing a charge of robbery.

Steven Rusling, 37, currently living on Harding Street, is charged with Christopher Goodbun of robbing a man of his mobile phone, valued at £80 on June 10.

He will appear at Swindon Crown Court on September 2.

In the meantime he was released on conditional bail not to contact the complainant.

He must also not enter any road, part of a road, pavemented or pedestrianised area, or licensed premises within the area of Swindon as defined by a map between 7pm and 7am.

Admitting being behind the wheel of a car while he was disqualified has seen a man landed with 80 hours of unpaid work.

Luke Thompson, 25, of Drakes Way pleaded guilty to driving a Ford Focus on Marlowe Avenue on April 18 while he was disqualified from driving.

The magistrates imposed a 12 month community order during which he must complete 80 hours of unpaid work. He was also ordered to pay an £85 victim surcharge and was further banned from driving for six months.

A 37-year-old man has walked out of court with a bill of more than £300 after he admitted using threatening behaviour towards another man.

Chazz Mcrae-James of Courtenay Road pleaded guilty to the offence dating from May 18 when he came before magistrates sitting in Swindon.

The bench fined him £265 and ordered he pay a £30 victim surcharge along with £85 costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.
