A GROUP of Bristol Rovers fans put a smile on the faces of passing supporters as they dried off in a Manchester Road launderette after Saturday’s derby washout.

When the four friends set out for the clash with Swindon Town earlier in the morning, they could not have foreseen the downpour of biblical proportions that was to arrive shortly after kick off.

Rob, Andy, Shaun and Chris were sat in the uncovered Stratton Bank End with their fellow Rovers fans when the heavens opened.

With nowhere to hide from the elements, they were all drenched within minutes.

When the players were brought off shortly before the hour mark they decided enough was enough, joining their fellow fans as they made a beeline for the exit.

But while most were heading straight to the station in search of a train home, this resourceful foursome had other ideas.

Passing the conveniently located facilities at the A1 Laundry on the corner of Manchester Road and Corporation Street they couldn’t resist the temptation of the tumble dryers within.

Stripped semi-naked with beers in hand, the foursome made for a funny sight as passers-by headed home from the game.

The friends took it all in their stride, safe in the knowledge that while they may have become a bit more personally acquainted with Swindon than they had planned, at least they would be dry on the train home.

The abandoned game is due to be rescheduled soon and Rovers fans will once again return to Swindon.

If these four are among them they’ll be sure to bring their waterproofs – or at least correct change for the dryer – along too.
