PAMPERED pooches of all shapes and sizes were basking in the sunshine on Monday when a fun dog show was held at a village pub.

The Kings Arms at All Cannings, near Devizes, which is better known for playing host to big names in rock such as Bob Geldof and Brian May, went barking mad for the Bank Holiday.

The Nine Villages Conservative branch fund dog show was judged by Ian MacQueen from the MacQueen Veterinary Services in Devizes.

In addition to pedigree classes for the elite of the bunch there were a number of novelty sections including the dog with the waggiest tail which was won by Arthur Dog, the dog with the most appealing eyes won by Teddy, best mover won by George and glossiest coat won by Marly.

But one eagle eyed Labrador, which decided to claim its own prize in the shape of someone's lunch, was in the bad books of its owner.

One of the organisers Vee Thursby said: "The weather was perfect and we could not believe that so many people came along. We were hoping for a good turnout but 70 was amazing."

In the pedigree classes Luna won the 6-19 month class, Winston was the winner of the sporting category, Barney the non-sporting and Mo Farrer the open class.
