AUGUST was another busy month for the county’s photographers who have given the judges of the VisitWiltshire photograph competition even more to consider.

Aspiring and professional snappers from all corners of the county have been busy capturing the finest views that Wiltshire and Swindon have to offer in a bid to win the coveted contest.

As the competition entered its penultimate month the judges received a further five images form Trowbridge Camera Club member Della Cook who had taken photographs of Avebury Manor House, Green Lane Woods near Trowbridge, the Lacock at War event, Stonehenge and The Breadstones at Great Wishford.

Swindon resident Chris Moody also sent in a striking night sky image of Avebury looking towards Silbury Hill along with a shot of the Marlborough Downs from Barbury Castle.

Phil Selby, also from Swindon, has submitted a panoramic shot of the Cherhill White Horse along with images of Avebury and Lydiard House under frost as well as a panoramic shot of Stourhead.

Meanwhile, King Alfred stands guard over Pewsey in one of the latest photographs taken by Warminster’s John Newbury. He also sent in a shot of Copheap in Warminster during winter's grip, as well as Shearwater Lake at Longleat, Britainnia waiting to set off from Westbury while another picture sees a Hercules passing over Bratton Camp.

Jamie Winch has captured a gleaming traction engine at the Wessex Country Fair at Wilton, while Stephen Cooper from Romsey has submitted images of Salisbury Cathedral basking in early evening sunshine.

Images of Avoncliff Weir, Cley Hill, Corsham, the Old Bath Road and the view from White Horse Hill near Westbury have been captured by Bill Riley from Bradford on Avon.

Krzysztof Dac from Warminster has also sent in an image of Cley Hull along with a crop circle at the White Horse of Westbury, while Marcus Lilley from Swindon has submitted pictures of the diving board at Coate Water and Marlborough Town Hall.

Photographer have until the end of the month to submit up to five images of the county to be in with a chance of winning.
