PHOTOGRAPHERS have just days to get their final entries in for this year's VisitWiltshire photograph competition.

With the Friday deadline looming, VisitWiltshire has urged photographers not to miss out on the chance to have one of their photographs named the best in the county.

Scores of snappers from all corners of the county – and even some from beyond the county border – have been busy getting out and about to capture Wiltshire ion film since the competition was launched in May.

Among some of the latest entries are images of Lydiard Park from Old Walcot resident Helen Shurmer, an autumnal scene of Devizes by Peter Daltrey and a foreboding shot of St Giles Church at Great Wishford by Della Cook.

Wroughton resident Brenda Dore has submitted a striking image of Salisbury Cathedral, Brentford resident Leigh Cousins was inspired by a summer's evening near Aldbourne, while Norman Tapp from Chippenham captured a colourful sunset at High Penn in Calne.

Jenny Butler, VisitWiltshire’s marketing services manager, urged aspiring photographers and those with more experience alike to get their last minute entries in.

She said: "We have been really impressed with the excellent standard of this year’s entries, as well as the enormous range and variety of photos, with people drawing inspiration from all four corners of our beautiful county.

"There is still time to send in your last minute entries before the competition closes, so do get out and about with your camera over the coming days and capture the colours of Wiltshire in autumn."

To be in with a chance of winning, the photos should capture the essence of life in Wiltshire, its people and landscape, and tie in with any of VisitWiltshire's four ‘Timeless’ themes.

These are:

• Timeless Wonders: including Stonehenge, Avebury, Salisbury Cathedral, the Kennet & Avon Canal and Wiltshire’s White Horses

• Timeless Places: including market towns, villages and other attractions

• Timeless Pleasures: including shopping, food and drink, festivals & events, arts & entertainment

• Timeless Nature: including big skies, rolling hills, flora and fauna

The first prize is a £300 voucher, plus two runners up prizes of a £50 voucher. There is still time for photographers to submit up to five images each to be considered by the judging panel. To enter visit bit.ly/1B1fPuA
