OVER the next 12 months, The Polly Tea Rooms in Marlborough High Street will be doing their part for Prospect Hospice with a monthly high tea.

The tea rooms in the High Street chose Prospect Hospice as their charity after meeting the Marlborough community fundraiser Mike Kennedy. The fundraising year will begin with a high tea at the end of October, which will be held every month.

Ann Clarke, owner of the tea rooms with her husband David, said: “We met Mike and immediately felt that we wanted to do as much as we could to raise funds for this great charity. Our high teas are very popular and we thought this would be something we could do very well to raise funds for the care of local people. We are proud to have our name linked with that of Prospect Hospice.”

The high tea will cost £24 per person with £8 from each going straight to Prospect Hospice. The menu from each event will include a glass of prosecco, and there will be a raffle held to help boost the tea room’s fundraising efforts.

Mike Kennedy said: “We are absolutely delighted that the Polly Tea Rooms have chosen Prospect Hospice as their charity of the year and will be helping us to raise more funds to support the care of patients and their families in the Marlborough area. I am confident that the people of Marlborough will come along to the high afternoon tea events throughout the year.”

Prospect Hospice, which has an outreach centre at Savernake Hospital, is a local charity which depends on raising 70 per cent of its income to keep its services going.

The first high afternoon tea will be take place on October 27 at the tea rooms. To book a place call the tea rooms on (01672) 512146.
