A BENEVOLENT club in Bradford on Avon has donated £920 to a charity focusing on providing assistive technology for disabled people.

The town's Tuesday Luncheon Club raised the funds for Bath's Royal United Hospital's design and development medical engineering charity, Designability.

Representatives from the charity, Steve and Katie Tanner, attended the club's monthly meeting in September at the Cumberwell Park Golf Club to thank them for the donation as well as explaining what it would go towards, for instance designing wheelchairs for children under five.

"We are very happy to support this charity that is doing such great work for disabled people," said secretary Sue James.

"Everyone was delighted that we raised the £920 and are very pleased it is going to such a worthy cause.

"We always like to raise funds for local causes and as we have donated to them before, we thought we would do it again."

The charity's projects also include simple aids for daily living, educational support, mobility, communication and rehabilitation robotics.
