DOMINO’S Pizza in Swindon served up a tasty treat to customers and raised more than £1,000 for a cancer charity last week.

Hungry members of the public munched their way through more than 3,000 pizzas in the space of one week, raising £1,500 for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

The pizza makers - who have bases in Old Town, Taw Hill, Windbrook Meadow and the West Swindon shopping centre - ran a special deal where if customers bought one pizza, the second was only £1.

This £1 was then donated to the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Domino’s supports Teenage Cancer Trust on a local and national level and over the next two years the company aims to raise £1m for the charity through employee and customer fundraising and raise awareness of the valuable work they do.

And Swindon pizza fans, who favour the Pepperoni Passion as their flavour of choice, were very much supportive of raising money for the charity.

Liam Armstrong, West operations manager, said he was delighted with the success of the fundraising drive.

“I think a lot of people were happy that the extra money was going to a worthwhile cause ad so were happy to get involved in the deal,” he said.

“It did attract a lot of attention and while we’re always busy, there was definitely an extra boost.

“We can see when we speak to the customers how much they support it.

“It’s helping teenagers get that help and support and raising money for a charity that does so much good work not only in Wiltshire but across the entire country.

“It makes us feel good as a team that we have been able to help young people going through such difficult times, it’s what we’re about as a company and we hope to have more success at Christmas.”

Dominos are also hoping that people favour pizzas over turkey this festive period, as they will donate all of their Christmas day profits to charity, a scheme which proved very successful last year.

“A surprisingly large amount of people order pizza on Christmas Day so we’re hoping we can get a lot of support behind us and raise as many money as possible, and of course beat last year’s total,” said Liam.

Last year Domino's raised £850 on Christmas Day and Domino’s Pizza head office matched that amount, taking the total donation to £1,700.
