A female motorcyclist was airlifted to hospital following a crash on the A342 at Bromham this morning.

The 37-year-old, from Bristol, suffered a broken ankle in the accident.

Police said a blue VW Golf, being driven by a Bromham man, was turning right out of The Pound on to the A342 towards Devizes when it was in collision with the motorcyclist.

The biker, who was riding a blue Yamaha Virago, was travelling towards the Chippenham area. She was taken by the Wiltshire Air Ambulance to the Royal United Hospital in Bath shortly after the collision.

The car driver was uninjured but suffered shock.

The A342 was closed for two hours.

The collision happened at about 8.50am and PC Tony Curtis at the roads policing unit in Chippenham is appealing for witnesses to contact him on 0845 408 7000.
