OWNERS of a fast food stall have been told not on your noodle by Devizes Town Council after they applied for permission to set up in The Brittox.

U Noodled has applied to Wiltshire Council for a trading licence for the town centre street and wants to put up a gazebo from Monday to Friday from 11.45am to 7pm and from 6.45am to 7pm on a Saturday.

But town councillors who were asked for their opinion on the scheme were worried that a generator that would be needed to provide power to allow the noodles to be heated would cause too much of a noise.

Deputy town clerk Simon Fisher said the council had originally wanted to know if the street trader would be cooking the noodles to eat as take away or if they would be packed for preparation by the person buying them.

In reply U Noodled said: "The food will be ready to be eaten there and then, no prep or further cooking will be needed. It will be street food. Soup for the cold weather, chicken balls to eat there and then and chicken skewers."

The trader also made it clear that either a power supply or a generator would be needed.

Mr Fisher said: "It was felt that the generator would cause a nuisance to shopkeepers nearby and to shopper. We have objected and made our views known as consultees but the decision will be made by Wiltshire Council."
