LAVINGTON School, near Devizes, is celebrating after winning gold for the third time in three years for its commitment to sport.

The school has just been awarded the Sainsbury's School Games gold mark for 2016 to add to it achievements in 2014 and 2015.

Assistant head Lisa Adams said: "We are one of only a few schools in the country to accomplish this. This accolade is awarded in recognition for the school’s commitment to school games, physical education and school sport.

"The School has to meet specific criteria sent by the School Games; these include offering a inclusive PE programme, student leadership opportunities, competing in a set number of festivals, tournaments and competitions with not only an A team but as many teams as possible. This encourages as many students as possible to get involved and become as active as possible.

"It is a fantastic achievement for PE and school sport at Lavington School."
