POLICE are appealing for witnesses following an armed robbery at the Costcutter store in Cheney Manor Road.
A white male, wearing a face covering, camouflage trousers and a parka coat entered the store on Saturday at about 5.30pm and brandished a knife towards the woman cashier.
The offender demanded that she open the till and hand over the contents after pushing another customer out of the way.
The suspect then managed to take the cash drawer from the till and left the shop running to the right of the Manor pub on Cheney Manor Road.
Det Sgt Becky Smart said: "Fortunately no one was harmed or injured during this incident but it has left the staff at the store distressed and frightened.
"Given the time of the evening, we know there were other members of the public who were either inside the store or passing by at the time of the incident; if that was you please contact Swindon CID on 01793 267031."
If anyone has any other information about the incident or the identity of the suspect, and wishes to remain anonymous, then they can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
