A FAMILY is hunting for two pet ferrets that escaped, or were taken, from an outdoor cage in Seend, near Devizes on Friday night.
Lucy Lorne and her husband Paul found Axel and Sparky were missing from their enclosure on Saturday morning.
Mrs Lorne said: "My husband went down and found the cage door was open and the ferrets had gone.
"Our first thought was that they had possibly been stolen but we are hoping they just managed to get out and someone will find them."
The couple and their children Jubilee, 18, Logan, 17 and Evan, 13 spent the weekend knocking on neighbour's doors, posting on social media and looking on nearby land for the animals.
Mrs Lorne said: "They are well handled and friendly so we hope if someone spots them they would not run off but the longer it goes on the more we worry about them."
The two male ferrets are microchipped and their disappearance has been reported to police and local vets. They have also been registered missing with Pet Log.
