SWINDON is one of the most popular places in the UK for coach travel, according to new figures revealed by transport giant National Express.

Booking figures revealed by the UK’s largest coach operator National Express show that Swindon was the third most popular town in the UK in 2016.

Tens of thousands of National Express coach journeys were made to and from Swindon throughout the year, with passenger journeys up by more than 15 per cent from 2015.

An enhanced Swindon coach timetable, including increased capacity on routes to London is believed to be a key driver for the growth, as well as rail disruption and coach services on Christmas Day.

The top two popular UK towns for coach travellers are Milton Keynes and Cheltenham, followed by Swindon, with Preston coming in at number ten.

National Express runs coaches from Swindon to destinations across the UK. Coaches benefit from the newly-launched VUER - View, Unwind, Enjoy, Relax - infotainment system, a free app which allows customers to enjoy hours of free entertainment – as well as news, weather and journey updates plus free wi-fi.
