Going back to the future was always a feature of the music of synth pop icons OMD, whose experimental electronic sounds mesmerised their fans in the 1980s.

From humble begins in The North West the band had hits with Enola Gay, Electricity, Joan of Arc, If You Leave and Tesla Girls.

Today OMD, led by the Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphreys the two founder members, are still creating futuristic soundscapes and will be performing the headline slot at Wychwood Festival in Cheltenham. Tickets are on sale now.

In the last year the guys have recorded a live concert at the Royal Albert Hall in London, selling the double CDs right after the show, they have appeared at summer festivals and Andy co-wrote the song Thrill Me with Gary Barlow to go on the soundtrack of the film Eddie the Eagle. This year the band is planning to go back in the studio to record their 13th album.

A taster from the album will undoubtedly find its way into their headline set on Saturday, June 3 at the Cheltenham Racecourse where the family friendly festival is held each year.

Headliners on the Sunday are The Levellers, the folk rock legends who had hits with What A Beautiful Day, Battle of the Beanfield, Carry Me and One Way.

Wychwood runs from Friday, June 2 to Sunday June 4 and has a line up that includes Kana Boingoi Man, The East Pointers, Thrill Collins and Electric Swing Circus.

For the younger ones Katy Ashworth from CBeebies will be the special guest presiding over the children's activities.

Tickets are £140 for adult weekend ticket, £165 for camping weekend tickets, children 10 to 15 years weekend ticket £70, children five to nine years £27.50. Adult Saturday ticket £61 from http://wychwoodfestival.com/buy-tickets - Flicky Harrison
