THE Dorothy House and Bath Rugby Foundation’s Bath Men’s Walk has gained a famous supporter in the form of former England rugby player Duncan Bell.

The successful front row forward took time out of his busy week to show his support to the fundraiser, which will be taking place on March 18, starting from Dorothy House in Winsley. During the West Country derby on January 27, Mr Bell met with CEO of Dorothy House John Davies and expressed his support for the walk.

Duncan Bell, Bath Rugby Foundation's lead ambassador for the 'Move like a Pro' fitness program, said: “I'm delighted to be supporting the Bath Men's Walk in aid of two great charities who work tirelessly to help the local community. Last year the Bath Men's Walk raised over £45,000 so let’s make 2017's total even bigger and all dig deep in our pockets in return for an epic day out.”

The walk will be starting from the hospice’s home near Bradford on Avon at 11am on March 18 and will continue on an eight-mile route, passing through Bathampton and finishing at the Bath Rugby grounds.

John Davies, CEO of Dorothy House Hospice Care, said: "It was a great buzz to watch last Friday's match and see Bath and Gloucester draw in the closing seconds. It was also a privilege to meet Duncan Bell in person and promote the 2017 Bath Men's Walk together.

"I'm sure this year's event will be a storming success and the all-important funds raised will allow Dorothy House to continue to give patients, their families and carers the specialist palliative and end of life care they need."

People who would like to take part in the Bath Men’s Walk can sign up by visiting www.bathmenswalk.co.uk and paying £25. Participants will also sign a pledge to raise a further £50 for the two charities.
