Staff at the Co-Op in Wroughton are getting behind Prospect Hospice’s Wroughton Support Group with an Easter egg appeal.

This week, the team installed a collection point at the High Street branch and donations of the chocolate variety can be dropped off. The Easter eggs will then be raffled off at a barn dance being held on February 25, at Ridgeway School, with all proceeds going to the hospice.

The very popular barn dance events have raised nearly £8K toward the work of the hospice since they started in 2012 and the raffle is a big part of the evening.

Hilary Fleming, of the Wroughton Support Group, hopes people dig deep and donate unwanted eggs.

She said: “The Co-Op has been brilliant in helping us do the collection and it will be there until the week of the barn dance for people to drop off Easter eggs or, if they want, they can contact me and I will come and collect them.

“It is only a small thing to donate one but it makes a big difference.”

Liam Lambert, store manager at The Midcounties Co-operative in Wroughton, said: “The donation bins are now set up in store and ready to be filled. Any local residents that want to buy an extra chocolate egg with their weekly shop can do so knowing that they’ll be helping Prospect Hospice raise much-needed funds to support its good work in the area.

“As a co-operative, lending a helping hand to vulnerable people is a large part of our Society’s values, and we’re proud to work with the support group to help them gather eggs for their raffle.”
