RUSSIAN born Sasha Park has taken over as manager of a Devizes charity shop and is appealing for more people to come forward as volunteers.

Mrs Park, 35, moved to the UK 11 years ago and has already recruited her husband Charles as a helper at the Sue Ryder shop in High Street.

But she is keen to attract others and thinks it is a good opportunity for people who want experience of shop work. She said: "I met my husband five years ago and now he is a volunteer in my shop. He is very helpful with fixing things as our handy man."

Mrs Park herself began as a Sue Ryder volunteer and then became an assistant for the charity in the Brunel Centre, Swindon eight years ago. But that shop is closing in March and she faced redundancy.

She was delighted when area manager Helen Reynolds told her about the shop manager vacancy in Devizes. She said: "We are looking for people who would like to gain till assistant experience to put on their CV and sorting room assistants to sort and process stock.

"We are flexible about hours but especially need people on Monday, Friday and Saturday afternoons."

She said volunteers like to support the charity which provides hospice care and support with practical aspects of life for whole families.
