AN Old Town bar is hoping to bring a taste of Cornwall to the town by opening a new tea rooms.

Staff at Gibsons Bar in Victoria Road are celebrating 15 months of trading in the town and have marked the occasion by opening Rosie Lee's Tea Room in their existing premises.

Offering a selection of cream teas, afternoon tea and a variety of mouthwatering cakes and tray bakes, the new addition opened its door to the public last Monday.

Alison Saunders, Rosie Lee’s owner, said: “With our strawberry jam coming from Boddington’s Berries in Mevagissey and the mandatory clotted cream from the famous Rodda’s creamery in Redruth, the cream teas should give our customers a little taste of Cornwall in Swindon’s Old Town.”

Rosie Lee, or Rosy Lee, is one of the most well-known phrases of Cockney slang for a cup of tea - one of the main reasons the bar decided on the name.

All of the delicious ranges of cake on offer are hand-baked in Berkshire by the Handmade Cake Co and are all homemade from trusted household recipes.

The tea room will be managed by Alison’s sister and daughter and Rosie Lee’s is open to customers Monday to Friday between 10am and 3pm.

Gibsons Bar will open at 5pm.
