SISTERS from Trowbridge had their long locks chopped off on Saturday and donated it to a charity which makes wigs for children losing their hair as a result of cancer treatment.

Freelance hairdresser Rebecca Taylor, of Magnolia Rise, cut off a combined total of 21 inches of hair from her two daughters, 12-year-old Chloe and Daisy, six, before sending it to the Little Princess Trust on Monday.

The sisters have also raised nearly £300 for the charity in the process, which will go towards manufacturing the wigs.

Chloe, who is in Year 8 at Clarendon, said: “We both wanted to donate our hair to the charity because there are children who need hair more than us.

“Our hair will grow back but for children having treatment for cancer it’s not as easy and it can be very tough for them when their hair falls out.

“It was a really fun event on Saturday and it was nice having our hair cut together knowing it was for such a good cause.

“My best friend and my gran and grandad watched the haircut and friends at school said they liked my new, shorter look."

Mrs Taylor, 38, said: “Steve and I were incredibly proud of the girls.

“The JustGiving page has raised a great amount thanks to the support of friends, family and some teachers, and we’re hoping the donations will keep coming in.

“People always used to say Daisy looked younger than her age but since the haircut everyone has been saying she looks a lot older which is funny.”
