A REVAMPED village pub will re-open on Tuesday (28) after a two week closure that meant for the first time in 900 years Market Lavington was without a place to serve beer.

But Steve and Nicky Wragg, who are tenants of the Green Dragon, believe the wait will be worth it. Mr Wragg said: "The place has been transformed and we are really delighted with it.

"There is new lighting, new flooring and the place has been painted and decorated. We are not planning a party or any grand re-opening as we have some new staff starting and we want them to get used to everything."

Most of the work has been paid for by landlords Wadworth as part of a scheme to regenerate a number of pubs in the Devizes area. Mr and Mrs Wragg have been tenants of the Green Dragon for 14 years. Previously they were at the Cavalier in Eastleigh Road, Devizes for ten.

People will be able to see the new look at a music evening to be held on March 6 from 6pm.
