POLICE are trying to trace a taxi driver who they think could have witnessed the traffic collision in Beechcroft Road which resulted in the death of a 32-year-old woman.
Police suspect the driver may prove to be a key witness in the incident which took place just before 4.30pm on Thursday.
The taxi was seen turning right at the time of the incident. The driver of that vehicle is not involved but could have witnessed what happened.
Police have disputed some reports that weather conditions were a factor in the woman’s death; it is believed she was attempting to cross the road.
PC Steve Hutton said: "We would like to speak to that taxi driver, if that is you please come forward.
"We know you were not involved in the collision but we would like to speak to you as a key witness.
"We'd also like to speak to anyone else who may have seen or heard what happened on this stretch of road."
If you can help with our enquiries please contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 101 or anonymously, via Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111.
