YOUNG people with disabilities and learning difficulties in Melksham can now meet new friends and have fun thanks to a new social group.

The group, called No Limits, now opens its doors to the public on Monday evenings at the Canberra Centre in Spa Road, inviting young people aged 13-25 who have disabilities or learning difficulties to have fun and develop social skills. The first meeting of No Limits took place on Monday (February 27) evening, with 12 young people attending.

Gemma Howell, youth worker manager at Young Melksham, said: “It was really good, we had 12 young people come along which was great for the first session. Considering we only really started advertising it at the start of February did well. We are now looking to push for more people over the next few weeks, hopefully we can reach up to 20.

“No Limits gives young people with learning difficulties the chance to come along and meet similar people as they may not always have the opportunity. Sometimes I believe people can feel isolated, so popping in on a Monday to have fun and chat is a great opportunity.”

As well as fun and games, young people attending the club can also have help with job searches and perfecting their CV.

“No Limits is a drop-in centre so everyone can come along between 6.30pm and 9pm, there is no obligation to stay for the whole time. I think it provides a relaxing environment for the group as sometimes it can be a bit noisy and boisterous with other groups here,” Miss Howell added.

Anyone wishing to take part in the No Limits club can drop in on Monday evenings at the Canberra Centre in Spa Road. For more information call 01225 667327.
