JUST weeks after a Devizes Car Centre employee was shot in the leg with an air rifle pellet, further shots were fired at the same spot.

Police were called to the business in New Park Street on Thursday, March 9, at around 2.30pm after a 21-year-old man, of no fixed abode, was reported to have been pointing an air rifle and and firing shots at workers.

Manager Gent Jakupi is now worried about the safety of his staff and has called on the police to do more to stop this happening.

"It is horrible for my team to work under these conditions," he said.

"We just want to go about our day and do our job but how can we when we are shot at?

"I am worried about the safety of myself, my workers and my customers.

"What if a child was there at the time and was shot by these lunatics?

"I saw them do it myself, shooting out of the window of the flat opposite us. I exchanged a few words with them. They swore at me and told me to go away – it is just crazy."

Just two weeks ago employee, Valentin Bogdan Paraschivl, 23, was taken to Bath's Royal United Hospital after he was hit in the leg by an air rifle pellet, puncturing his skin.

"It took the police hours to get here. I called them four times before they finally came more than two hours later," said Mr Jakupi.

"I hope they can do something to stop this because it is causing us a great deal of concern."

A police spokesman said: "We received a report on March 9, shortly after 2.30pm, that a man had been pointing and firing what is believed to be an air rifle at workers at the car centre in New Park Street.

"A 21-year-old man of no fixed abode was arrested on suspicion of firing an air weapon beyond premises and attempting to assault a person, thereby occasioning actual bodily harm. He has been released on bail pending further enquiries."
