FOUR traveller caravans have moved on to land at Hopton Industrial Estate, Devizes.

The vans are parked close to Coral Cove children's play centre at Sergeant Rogers Way on land owned by Cross Manufacturing.

A spokesman for Coral Cove said: "They were not there when we left at 2pm yesterday but were there when we arrived this morning. We have reported the matter to Cross Manufacturing who own the land.

"They have not been caused any trouble."

Devizes deputy town clerk Simon Fisher said: "This is not a town council responsibility but we like to monitor these situations and will liase with Wiltshire Council.

"As they are on Cross Manufacturing land it will be down to them to decide what they want to do but I understand Wiltshire Council is advising them."

It is thought that rubbish in the area caught fire at one point, with firefighters going to the scene.
