FRANCIS and Lynda Bosworth of Calne celebrated their golden wedding surrounded by dozens of family and friends at the church they got married in last Saturday.

The couple, who live in Heron Close, got married in Bethedsa Baptist Church in Trowbridge on March 25, 1967, which Mrs Bosworth regularly attended.

After spotting an "attractive young man" standing outside the church one day, Mrs Bosworth invited her future husband into the church for one of their prayer sessions.

"I always used to ride my bike to church and outside there was a very attractive young man. I thought I like the look of him and while looking in his direction, he asked me what went on here," Mrs Bosworth said. "So I said to him if you want to know what goes on, you better come in!"

After noticing that he decided to pray during the meeting, the 73-year-old decided to find out more about the mysterious man and from there on, their relationship blossomed.

Following their marriage in 1968, the couple went on to have three children, Mark, Andrew and Sharon, and are now proud grandparents to six grandchildren Rowan, Solomon, James, Arwen, Anna and Eddie.

Speaking about their long marriage, Mrs Bosworth added: "Francis would always say our long marriage would be down to our Christian faith in remaining completely trustworthy with each other. Trust is a very fragile thing and once it is broken, you are in trouble.

"Unity is also important. When making a decision about anything, agree on it together before you act on it in any way. If one of you makes a decision but it is not right, agree to a point where you can agree and move forward. If you then make a mistake, you make it together."
