MAYOR of Swindon, Coun Eric Shaw was a guest judge in the John Evans photographic competition organised by Swindon Photographic Society.
The competition is named after a former Swindon Advertiser chief photographer and a former member of the photographic club.
Coun Shaw was described by the club members as ‘a good and informative judge'.
He gave a constructive opinion of the entries as well as informing the club about the history of the Swindon mayor and mayors in general.
The rules for the competition were that prints had to be taken within the last year and within 10 miles of Swindon.
Coun Shaw chose a picture by Maurice Pitt entitled Storm coming over Coate Water.
Swindon Photographic Society was formed in 1898.
No experience is necessary to join and meetings include a mixed programme of competitions and lectures, practical hands on sessions and summer outdoor meetings.
