SOUTHWICK Seniors celebrated their 43rd birthday at the weekend with a three-course meal and an amusing afternoon of entertainment.

The group of over 60s met for their annual celebration at Southwick Village Hall before tucking into a scrumptious meal served up by caterer Victoria Moore.

Following that they enjoyed a disco with local DJ Stuart Sheppard on the decks, who interspersed hits by the likes of Elvis Presley and Vera Lynn with music quiz questions.

Group chairman Stella Allan said: “It was a lovely way to celebrate our 43rd birthday and there was a really good turnout.

“Stuart was absolutely brilliant and very entertaining. He handed out Walnut Whips to everyone who got his questions right, including ‘how many number one singles did the Beatles have?’ and ‘who was top of the charts in 1983?’

“The food was also wonderful. We like to get an external caterer in for our birthday parties as it’s a special occasion.”

The group meet every other Thursday at the village hall between 2.30-4.30 and is on the lookout for new members to join.

“We would love to see some new faces,” added Mrs Allan.

“At our bi-weekly sessions we have guest speakers who are always very entertaining and we also go on outings.

“The group is a great way to make new friends and learn some new things.”
