THOUSANDS of pounds are expected to be raised for charity on Monday (1) when a tractor day to mark a century of Ford machines is held in Rowde.
Farmer Jim Butler usually hosts a ploughing contest at Manor Farm but this year he is joining forces with New Holland, who now own the Ford tractor brand, to hold a tribute to the big blue machines.
He said: "People will be coming from all over the country to take part. We will have about 300 Ford tractors from all the different eras from vintage through to modern day."
In addition to an appearance by Tractor Ted, ploughing and other displays by the tractors there will also be rides and refreshments on offer from 10am to 3pm. Mr Butler hopes that up to £5,000 could be raised for Dorothy House, Julia's House children's hospice and the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution.
