A SWINDON-BASED recruitment firm has opened its doors to youngsters in a bid to let them experience the world of work.

On Wednesday, Office Angels, in Commercial Road, gave one lucky 17-year-old the chance to shadow staff to see if he has what it takes to make it in recruitment.

Branch manager Deborah Morse said: “It’s great because it gives them an opportunity to experience being part of a workforce and it gives them an insight into what it’s like to work for a company such as this.

“Not everyone gets that experience and it can be hard when you leave college without knowing what you want to do, so we thought it would be good to help.”

New College student Isaac Parry, 17, certainly enjoyed his day with the company.

After a morning of being shown how to use spreadsheets and fancy computer graphics, Isaac said: “It has been a really enjoyable day. It was very productive and I learnt a lot about admin work.

“It has given me ideas about what I want to do when I leave college and all the different options that are available to me.

“I have definitely found it beneficial. They don’t do work experience at school anymore, so I’m very grateful to have been given the chance to come here today.”

Staff from Office Angels recently took their pitch to schools and colleges all across Swindon in a bid to encourage students to get out into the world of work for day.

Account manager Sam Hobson, who has been with the company for just over a year, said: “It can be hard for students to find something they are good at and that they like doing.

“Days like today can give them the kick start they need to embark upon their chosen career, and it’s good to be able to help.”
